Android's Slow Sales Attributed to Lack of Awareness

Analysts hoping Google™s Android operating system would finally be the mobile OS to dethrone Apple™s untouchable iPhone learned some interesting facts thanks to recent research hresults.

Research group IDC released results to their international research, which reports that Google’s market share increased to 5.4 percent (from 4.2 percent) in the third quarter for Western Europe but that consumers still didn’t understand what Android is. Apparently buyers were slow to show interest in Google Android equipped smartphones because they simply don’t know what it is, said research firm IDC.

Google recently won the attention of the mobile industry, with Motorola, Sony Ericsson and even PC maker Dell choosing it to power their new high-end smartphones such as the Motorola Droid and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.
