Context-based LBS in Stockholm Pilot

Context-based LBS in Stockholm Pilot

DM Europe carries a story today about a new location-based system being piloted. Appear Networks, Cisco Systems and the Stockholm subway system are teaming up to provide a new context-aware location-based service platform that can deliver custom content and services to subway riders based on information as specific as "time of day, job role, and current physical location". Video of a similar pilot in Krista, a suburb of Stockholm, is available here.

Increasingly, context-related content and services will be popular in regions like Scandinavia and Japan, as well as urban centers with large visitor populations, driven by availability of better location information from newer devices. Development of these services will be spurred by investment by commercial and government authorities looking to improve quality of service for customers and citizens.
