The iPhone 4 is selling like hot cakes in China. At Apple's flagship store (located in a high-end shopping and bar area of Beijing called Sanlitun), there has been a frenzy over sales of the iPhone 4. The store even had to be closed to restore peace and order.
It seems that the iPhone 4 is a huge hit to China's 800 million-plus mobile phone users. September 25 is the day the iPhone 4 went officially on sale in China and since then Apple's carrier partner – China Unicom – reported that it had received 200,000 pre-orders.
The iPhone 4 16 GB cost $750 without a China Unicom contract while consumers can also it with a two-year contract that costs about $880. Despite that seemingly 'unreasonable' prices, people in China gets the iPhone 4 for status symbol.
